What should I pack for a trip to Santorini in March?

Flying Fluskey Don't let the cool breeze fool you, you will still need to bring suntan cream. It is very expensive to purchase on Santorini and you can be very exposed as you stroll around. Protect your skin! It is also wise to bring a cardigan or windbreaker to layer up during the evening or to keep the draught at bay if you are sat, enjoying a cliffside view. Swishy dresses are fun but won't keep you warm enough for all day. Speaking of clothes, pack some good walking shoes. It is nice to have pretty sandals but you will be walking a lot, tackling many, many stairs and your toes will get pretty frostbitten at night if they are out. What's great about Santorini in March?

Flying Fluskey Santorini is an incredibly popular destination and every summer it is swamped with tourists. If you arrive in March, you can have some of the most famous spots to yourself. If you want to capture the three domes without a crowd in the background or capture the Oia sunset without having o stake a place two hours before, hitting shoulder season is ideal. Many low cost carriers will start their summer schedule in March so their flights to Santorini scan be wonderfully cheap. Accommodation is also cheap and some of the famous pool suites can be booked for hundreds of pounds less per night when compared with the height of summer. The temperature is extremely stable in March with average highs of 15℃ and lows just 2℃ lower at 14℃. The UV index will be moderate at this time of year, so not something to worry about for the average person. However, if you're going to be outside for long periods it's worth wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses. Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand increase UV exposure.
