It is just after the peak season, so you miss the big crowds and the weather makes it pleasant enough to still enjoy the sites. If you do a day trip out of Lisbon like to Sintra then you will also get the beautiful autumn colours.

How warm is it in Lisbon during October?
The temperature reaches around 23℃ during the daytime in October, falling away to 16℃ at night. The UV index will be moderate at this time of year, so not something to worry about for the average person. However, if you're going to be outside for long periods it's worth wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses. Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand increase UV exposure.
