New York has famously changeable weather during the autumn and winter months. At the end of November, we experienced a few very pleasant days with sunny skies and highs of around 12 degrees, followed by a bitterly cold few days where the temperature was nearly above freezing and the wind was biting. On our final day, it rained non-stop. We didn't see any snow, which I hear is more usual in January and February.

What should I pack for a holiday in New York during November?
You'll need to be prepared for cold and potentially wet weather. I took a hat, gloves and thermals and used them! A coat is an absolute necessity, ideally one that's waterproof.

Whats's great about New York during November?
New York isn't as cold in November as it can be in January, February and March, so it's a good time to go and explore. Later in the month, you'll get the excitement of Thanksgiving, which is a wonderful time to see the city. The added bonus is that Christmas will also be in full swing with twinkling lights everywhere. Don't miss the Christmas markets in Union Square and Bryant Park!
