Croatia is a stunning destination, with a wealth of history and culture to explore. In July, expect hot, sunny days with temperatures in the mid-twenties. We've looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Croatia, covering the last 12 years up to 2024, plus we've asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Croatia weather in July.

What's the weather like in Croatia in July?

A Rose Tinted World Southern Croatia in July is really very hot and sunny. It is perfect sunbathing weather, but we visited Cavtat, which is on the coast south of Dubrovnik, so we did visit the city and do some other sightseeing. If I am honest, it was probably a little too hot to be doing a lot of walking and exploring, especially around less shady sites like the Dubrovnik city walls. And if you are out sightseeing it is best to stay hydrated, wear a hat or head covering and stay out of the sun during the hottest hours of the day. Answered by A Rose Tinted World

What should I pack for a holiday in Croatia during July?

A Rose Tinted World You will definitely need sunscreen and shades, plus your swimwear for by the pool. I found that taking my kindle filled with books and having my iPod and phone full of good tunes was the best way to relax whilst sunbathing, so both these are must pack items. For sightseeing, I packed floaty cool dresses and comfortable shoes, plus a hat. For evenings, local restaurants in Cavtat were very casual, and the balmy evening weather meant that it was still warm enough to walk around without a cardigan or coat. What's great about Croatia in July?

A Rose Tinted World I loved Croatia as it was such a lovely relaxing holiday. I normally take a two week holiday and enjoy a mixture of days by the pool and sightseeing, but in my two weeks in Croatia I stayed by the pool a lot more! The coast of Croatia is a great place to take boat trips, we were able to take a water taxi by boat to Dubrovnik instead of a regular car, which made a nice change. As for food, the fish and sea food in Croatia was probably some the best I have ever had! Answered by A Rose Tinted World

How warm is it in Croatia during July?

The temperature reaches around 27℃ during the daytime in July, falling away to 14℃ at night. The UV index will be high at this time of year, so protection against skin and eye damage is needed. Try to limit exposure between 10am and 4pm. Apply broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every few hours, even if it's cloudy, or more frequently after sweating or swimming, and wear UV-blocking sunglasses too, and bear in mind that bright surfaces, such as sand and water increase UV exposure.

Does it rain in Croatia during July?

On average, there will be 6 rainy days during the month, amounting to 106.1mm in total. That's a significant amount of rain. For comparison, the wettest months in the UK typically sees between 80mm and 100mm, depending on where you are. Due to the high temperature and humidity, you might expect lots of thunderstorms, however they're actually fairly infrequent at this time of year. On average, July will see just 3 days that produce a storm.

Is it windy in Croatia during July?

You're unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a light breeze that picks up slightly at times in July. With warm air temperatures and high humidity, any breeze will feel warm but refreshing.

Solo travel in Croatia: Why I love and recommend it

28th June 2023 by Eat Sleep Breathe Travel

Thinking about solo travel in Croatia? I’ll be the first to tell you- go for it.  Croatia was somewhere that I daydreamed about for years. Not surprising, given I live in Canada and our winters last, well, forever. So when I finally got to Croatia, it was perfection. I spent about three weeks playing in the sea and lounging on sunny beaches, exploring ancient cities and swimming in waterfalls. I visited four cities; Zadar, Split, Hvar, and Dubrovnik and would highly recommend Croatia’s...

The best things to do in Hvar: Croatia’s party island

25th March 2022 by Eat Sleep Breathe Travel

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I LOVED Croatia. Zadar was my favourite place that I visited when I spent a little over 2 weeks in Croatia, but the Island of Hvar was a close second. I loved checking out the massive yachts in the port, I loved strolling through the streets and climbing the hills for viewpoints, and I loved that I could jump on a different boat every morning to be taken to a nearby island where I could spend the day swimming and hanging out at beach bars. If you...

The best things to do in Zadar, Croatia

24th March 2022 by Eat Sleep Breathe Travel

After spending a little over 2 weeks in Croatia, I can easily say that Zadar was my favourite spot that I visited. It didn’t have the crowds of Split, the costs of Hvar, or the unfriendliness of Dubrovnik. To me, it felt more local than touristic and had more than enough to keep me busy for a few days. Plus, as a solo traveller in Croatia, I loved how safe I felt in Zadar. In fact, I ended up returning to Zadar for my final days in Croatia because I loved it so much. So, if you find yourself...

Dubrovnik city guide

4th November 2017 by The Daily S'elf

I’ve chosen to do this Dubrovnik City Guide because the city has absolutely exploded as a tourist destination over the last few years. In fact, Croatia is the world’s most searched travel destination, according to teflsearch.com who have studied the most popular places for people to holiday. 6.5% of all holiday searches online from Ireland relate to Croatia and with affordable short haul flights (use the SkyScanner search box in the side bar), it’s no wonder the Irish are flocking to its...
