January is typically the coolest month in Jamaica, although we use the term cool in a relative sense! Expect heat, with the temperature hitting about 27℃ during the day, falling away to a balmy 21℃ at night. Of course, the high humidity will make it feel even hotter. The UV index will be moderate at this time of year, so not something to worry about for the average person. However, if you're going to be outside for long periods it's worth wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses. Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand increase UV exposure.
Does it rain in Jamaica during January?
On average, there will be 4 rainy days during the month, amounting to 114.0mm in total. That's a significant amount of rain. For comparison, the wettest months in the UK typically sees between 80mm and 100mm, depending on where you are. Due to the high temperature and humidity, you might expect lots of thunderstorms, however they're actually fairly infrequent at this time of year. On average, January will see just 1 days that produce a storm.

You're unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a light breeze that picks up slightly at times in January. The high humidity and warm temperature will make the breeze feel warm, so any cooling effect will be limted.

The water around Jamaica reaches a very pleasant 27℃ during January. This is very warm, and will feel bath-like. People who normally feel the cold will find this temperature perfectly acceptable.

A week spent in Jamaica with Falcon Holidays. I travelled to Montego Bay on the Thomson Airways 787 Dreamliner and stayed at the 5* all inclusive Grand Palladium Jamaica Hotel in Lucea (pronounced Lucy...WHO KNEW?!). Falcon are offering direct flights from Dublin to Jamaica Summer 2016 here......
