Italy in winter | Magical destinations for your fondest memories

Home to pasta, pizzas, espresso, tiramisu, and cannolis, Italy is one of Europe’s most sought-after travel destinations. But there’s more to this Bel Paese than just food. Italy is filled with wondrous cities that embody the country’s rich culture, beautiful art, scenic landscapes, fashion, and luxury brands....

How to spend 3 days in Milan, Italy

Most people dream about visiting Italy, but when it comes to Milan you tend to hear a lot of mixed reviews. As the fashion capital of the world, Milan is a hit with some people. However, others claim that this Italian city is boring and expensive and suggest going elsewhere....

Bologna to San Marino: A San Marino day trip

During my most recent trip to Italy in November of 2019, I had planned on spending a few days in Venice. Unfortunately, that was also when Venice suffered from the horrific flooding so those plans were quickly cut. However, I still had a flight to Italy and needed to spend a few days in the country before moving onto France for the Strasbourg Christmas Markets. So, I decided I’d spend a few days in Bologna. I’ll admit, as excited as I was to eat my way through Bologna, a big part of why I...

Things to do in Trieste, Italy

Trieste, Italy wasn’t really somewhere I ever expected to go until I found a cheap flight. I only spent two days in this coastal city and quickly came to appreciate its quiet charms. Looking for things to do in Trieste, Italy? Here are my suggestions....

Best places to travel solo: Venice

Think Venice is only for couples on romantic vacations? I dare you to think again. Venice seems to be a hit or a miss with most people. A lot of visitors downplay this infamous city, claiming it’s too touristic, too expensive, or even too fake. I disagree. In fact,Venice is one of my favourite cities. I immediately fell in love with the city of canals during my first visit in 2013. I loved everything about it, I was never bored, and I was totally comfortable being there solo. Because of this,...

Pisa from Florence daytrip; How best to do it

Pisa from Florence. And back in 1 day. Easy! I was on an epic overland trip from Thailand, my new home, to Ireland, my old home. No flights. During which, I tried to visit every country in Europe! I found myself in Florence, Italy but I couldn’t visit Italy without checking out the Leaning Tower of Pisa....

Orlando Bloom and the Venice chocolate shop incident

Have you guys ever met your celebrity crush or idol? Nothing will ever prepare you for that moment as it’s a moment you KNOW will probably never happen. This is the real world, and we don’t just wander around bumping into Ryan Gosling in Starbucks or Zac Efron at Tesco. At least not if you come from rural Ireland where the most famous celebrity is, in fact, a dolphin.  When I was 16 years old, my friends and I met one weekend in a coffee shop in Cork discussing our celebrity crushes....
